There is no cause-effect relationship between the cultural diversity, the number of ethnic groupsof which an independent nation or region with sovereignty consists, and the economic development within the nation or region in a certain period of time. For one thing, the cultural diversityexerts no influence onsuch agricultural activities as farming, fishing, and domesticating. History has demonstrated that the crop yields and quality are independent upon the number of ethnic groups. For another, the development of industry is also not closely associated with the cultural diversity.
China is a typical example. Although this country has exactly 56 ethnic groups, the industry lags behind Japan whose ethnic composition is rather homogeneous.
In terms ofeducation, the cultural diversity plays less important roles. Public schools might have excellent faculties and facilities whatever the cultural diversity conditions. Tsinghua University in China serves as a good example. In this university, ninety percent of students are Chinese in nationality. Another example is BLCU where 45% students are of international backgrounds. This university still develops fast. Private schools also disconnected with cultural diversity. MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, and Yale all are distinguished private universities that welcome international students with distinct culture, religion, and even race.
To sum up, the cultural diversity has little to do with the country. That is to say, the economic development and education are independent upon this concern.
