体坛英语资讯:Ronaldo suffers injury, may be out for rest of the year
Corinthians' star striker Ronaldo suffered an injury to his upper right thigh on Sunday during the 1-1 draw against Vitoria in the Brazilian championship.
With only two rounds of play remaining in this year's tournament, Ronaldo may be sidelined for the rest of the year.
After playing in seven consecutive games for the first time in 2010 with Corinthians, Ronaldo suffered his injury in the 27th minute, fell to the ground and was carried off the field.
According to team physical therapist Bruno Mazziotti, the injury could keep Ronaldo from playing in the remaining two rounds of play.
Mazziotti intends on allowing Ronaldo to rest on Monday and then perform a detailed exam on Tuesday in order to better analyze the seriousness of the injury.
As a result of Sunday's draw, Corinthians dropped to second place. The team will host Vasco da Gama on November 28 in the 37th round, followed by their last match of the tournament on December 5 when they travel to play Goias.
Ronaldo had previously promised the Corinthians fans that he would play in every match of the remaining Brazilian Championship in hopes of leading his team to the 2010 title. Although not discarded as of yet, Ronaldo's injury may force him to sit out of the last two games of the season.
