  2024高考选练----阅读理解阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中,选出最佳选项。

Born in 1983 in Linyi, Shandong Province, Chen Zhou had an unhappy childhood. When he was only six years old, his parents got divorced. He had to leave his hometown and began wandering at the age of eight. What’s worse, he lost his legs in a train accident.

Faced with various difficulties, he never gave up. To make a living, he used to sell newspapers, polish shoes for others, and repair electrical equipment. Anyway, he decided to be a singer in the end. Now Chen Zhou has been a little famous for his songs. “God took my legs away, but I will make them up.” he said.

He has strived to achieve more than most able-bodied people would even dream of. He has married and has a beautiful wife and a pair of children. “I can make my life meaningful, though I have no legs.” he said.

Chen Zhou is more than a traveling musician. He is a mountain climber, an inspirational speaker and an advocate for the disabled. It is hard enough to climb up a mountain when you have got two legs, but for legless Chen Zhou reaching the summit is an extraordinary achievement, considering he can do so only by using his arms. In fact, he has climbed all of China’s five great mountains including Mount Tai 11 times. To walk up those steps with his arms, he used a pair of home-made wooden boxes that each weighs seven pounds.

So far, he has been to more than 700 cities in China and has held over 3000 street concerts. What inspires people most is that he often donates money to those who are in trouble. Chen Zhou, whose story has moved millions of people, has set a good example to us and deserves our respect.

“Everyone may get knocked down in life. However, the winners get up no matter how many times they get knocked down. I’ll keep fighting as long as I breathe.” said Chen Zhou.
